Chin Surgery
There are several operational procedures (depending on whether a chin reduction or augmentation is required) available for people who are not happy with their chin. We discuss the different procedures and their advantages and disadvantages in a personal consultation, determining the best technique suited to your individual needs.
Results
A more beautiful profile and a chin of your choice which should smile at you every time you take a look in the mirror. Your chin will be better proportioned with the rest of your face, enhancing your appearance without looking artificial.
The Operation
If an advancement of the chin is necessary, the surgeon either repositions the facial bones or uses implants. During this operation the height of the chin can also be altered. Shaped silicone implants or the patient’s own bone or cartilage are used for this surgery.
For those patients who need chin reduction surgery, a protruding chin can be reduced by removing bone.
These procedures can usually be carried out via a small incision made in the mouth or by making a small incision in the underside of the chin. A metal plate is screwed into the bones, holding them in the right position and maximizing the healing process.
What a patient should know?
In order to avoid swelling and irritation of the operated area, all activities for example intensive Insolation (exposure to the sun’s rays) and sport, which involve pressure on the chin should be avoided for 2 to 3 months following the operation.
