Brow Lift
During the aging process the skin looses its elasticity and wrinkles start to appear. The eyebrows droop. This is often compensated by tension in the central brow musculature which can in turn result in so-called ‘frown lines’. These often give the face a sad or angry appearance. Droopy eyebrows can also make people look tense and tired.
A brow lift can help these faces look younger.
This cosmetic procedure can be combined with other procedures. Although patients should consult our surgeon about whether this is really necessary.
Results
A brow lift cannot make you younger but it can help you to look younger and therefore feel younger. Many patients feel more attractive having undergone surgery – they no longer look tired and tense.
Patients can visualise what they would look like after this operation by tautening the skin of the brow in front of a mirror.
Like all cosmetic operations, it is important that we do not pull the skin back too tightly – the look should be as natural as possible.
The Operation
The main purpose of the operation is to tighten the brow skin and remove overactive musculature. Ideally this procedure is performed using an endoscope (a small flexible tube with a tiny camera at one end). Small incisions are made in the scalp. The surgeon then inserts the endoscope into one of the incisions, allowing him to inspect the brow tissue. He can then tighten and remove muscles. In most cases this procedure is adequate, however sometimes it is necessary to make larger incisions along the hairline. Incisions are made along the hairline so that no scars can be seen following the surgery.
What a patient should know?
If you would like to combine this procedure with other forms of cosmetic surgery, you need a surgeon with a good sense of proportion. For example, combining a brow lift with pulling back the upper lids could lead to a patient not being able to close their eyes properly: it is often better that these two operations are performed at different times.
The scalp has a good blood circulation, so infections are very rare. Scarring can be hidden using your hair. Some patients find scars bothersome whilst looking after their hair.
In order to avoid any complications before or after surgery, it is important that you follow all instructions given to you by your surgeon.
