Breast Uplift

The causes of shapeless breasts are different for every patient: pregnancy, motherhood, extreme weight loss or the menopause can all affect the shape of the breast.

Results

A breast uplift can make your saggy breasts look firmer, tauter and more youthful once again. Using a cosmetic stitching technique, the stitches lie under the skin which means scarring is minimal and after a short period of time you should hardly be able to see the scars.

The Operation

The operation is carried out under a general anaesthetic. An incision is made around the nipple and then a second vertical incision is made leading from the bottom of the nipple to the crease under the breast. A part of the excess skin is then removed and the breast is reshaped. In some cases it is necessary to add implants to the breast resulting in a shapelier breast. At the end of the operation the wounds are stitched together and drains are inserted into the breasts in order to prevent the accumulation of blood and ichor. The drain is then removed, free of pain, after about 1 to 2 days. The breast is supported using a dressing.

What a patient should know?

Only the shape of the breast is corrected during this operation, not the firmness of the connective tissue. Thus you will have to be prepared for the corrected breast to sag once again. How long it will take for the breast to sag and to what extent it will sag, varies from patient to patient. Following the operation it is necessary to wear a sports bra day and night for the next 6 weeks. This supports the breasts and means that the scar tissue forms to your advantage. You shouldn’t take part in any sport for 4 to 6 weeks after the operation. Please be aware that a good blood circulation is necessary in order for the scars to heal properly. Therefore, smoking should be avoided.
